The Glass Half Full

I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. Georg C. Lichtenberg.

Most of us have some sort of change on our minds. We want to generate more business, dial back mounting stress levels, take better care of ourselves, find more personal time, lose a few pounds..

The question is, what is the most effective way to get past the challenges holding us back so as create positive change?

We tend to change in the direction in which we inquire and, as a rule, fall into two groups.

Those in the first group focus on their problems and will, as result, naturally keep finding more. They remain stuck. On the other hand, those in the second group embrace change and attempting to appreciate what is best in themselves, focus on their unique strengths and what they do best.

They start by making a “victory list” of all they have accomplished in the past and what is good in their current circumstances. In the process of the examination, they create the positive changes and actions they must take to move forward.

Put another way, the first group sees the glass half full and thinks that’s it. The second group sees it half full and works on topping it up.

It’s all about attitude and courage.
