The Future’s Going To Different

Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative. Oscar Wilde.

As the world begins to reopen and we all start to think about how to grapple with the new reality, the over-arching question is, “where do you go from here?”

That is, after you get a haircut or dye your roots!

It isn’t going to be easy In this time of global economic, social and political upheaval, all options are on the table. And the issue of climate change isn’t going to go away any time soon.

So how do you get on to what next in these crazy times?

Where do you start?

Start at the beginning. By taking responsibility for yourself. Have a quiet talk with yourself. Establish what you really value and what you know, in your heart of hearts, you’re all about. And whom you want to serve.

You get to decide how you live your life. The freedom is yours to choose and even when it feels impossible, it’s not. For those that want it bad enough, the future’s up ahead. Get ready. it’s going to be different!

Keep Growing.

Covid-19. Week 15. The lockdown is beginning to ease off a little…

We can’t control exterior circumstances but we can select our choices. Victor Frankel.

There’s no doubt that we’re in a time of reckoning. Change is in the air.

Navigating the world in these troubled times isn’t for the faint of heart. As humanity undergoes major changes at every level, we are each being pushed to move beyond outdated beliefs and behaviours that aren’t applicable anymore and search for new ways of thinking and acting in a collective world, turned upside down by the Coronavirus.

The trick is to be open to change, to constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities that didn’t exist before: To keep asking “What if?”.  As in, “What if I did this or if I tried that?”

It takes character, courage, commitment and hope. So what else is knew?!

The world is putting us all on notice. Each of us have a choice. We can revert to old, bad habits and outdated views that are no longer valid, or we can use this time to pause, rethink what we’re all about and then, once more, keep growing.

Dare To Be You!

Covid-19.  Week 14 of self-isolation

Do stuff. Be clenched, curious, not waiting for inspiration’s show or society’s kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It’s all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects with you others. It makes you eager. Stay eager. Susan Sontag.

As we stare into what is going to be a different kind of world than that we thought it was going to be just a few short fourteen weeks ago, it is becoming increasingly clear that succeeding in the post Covid-19 era is going to be challenging.

It’s a cliche, of course, to say that, but it’s true.

But here’s the thing. However it plays out, it is going to be up to you.

As you look around at your world, resolve to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Whatever you do, do it with determination and love. You have one life to live. Be honest. Do your work with passion, everyday. When you do, everything else will fall nicely into place.

NEWS! This is an exciting week for me.This Thursday, I am launching my new ebook, Dare to Be You, Five Bold Steps to Power Up Your Life. It’s a must read, I think, for anyone who wants to “do stuff,” to participate in the new world that is just beginning to unfold before our eyes.

If you are on Facebook I invite you to join my new Community book launch. I look forward to your participation. Please copy and paste this link:

Be Your Real Self

Covid-19.  Week 13 of self-isolation

We must make the choices that enable us to fulfill the deepest capacities of our real selves. Thomas Merton.

be-your-real-self-drew-simmie-2

Much of your success up until now has always been directly related to the amount of trust you have in yourself.

Never has the need to be our real selves been as important as it is in this Covid-19 era.

Keep on believing. The more you trust your intuition, the more confidant you become and the more empowered.

As society adapts everyday to the new playbook that is being rewritten, playing by the old rules isn’t going to cut it. Following your intuition to what will work in the new playbook is a must.

Give yourself credit. Doing what you feel in your gut is what has got you this far. You have all the skills and values you need. There is no reason why you can’t meet today’s challenges.

Just be your real self.

All Lives Matter

Covid-19.  Week 12 of self-isolation

Justice will only exist where those not affected by injustice are filled with the same amount of indignation as those of the offended. Plato.

Black or brown… all lives matter.
